Abstract

In a case report, the influence of overpressure and oxygen during hyperbaric exposure on intrathoracic blood volume (ITBV) and on oxidative stress measured on a volunteer. With increasing overpressure, the ITBV is reduced by 100ml/bar. Cardiac output decreases by 1L/min/bar. The extravascular lung water (EVLW) increases by 15 ml/bar. Hyperbaric oxygenation increases the total antioxidant capacity exponentially by 30 µmol/l/bar, with no increase in oxidative stress (TOS) is to be perceived.
